A video chat needs both, and the browser asks for them when the call begins — not when the page loads. You can decline; if you do, use voice matching (microphone only) or text matching (no permissions) instead.

Yes. Open chatta.live in Safari, Chrome or any modern phone browser and tap Start. Nothing needs to be installed. If you want an app-like shortcut, your browser can add Chatta to your home screen.

No. Chatta runs as a website on phones and desktops. There is nothing in an app store to install and nothing left on your device afterwards.

No. Opening the site and tapping Start is enough for your first chat; you are not asked for a name, an email or a card.

When you want to top up coins, keep in touch with someone you liked, or edit a profile. You can sign in inside the app with email or Google whenever you choose.

You can keep matching and chatting. Without an account there is nothing to carry between devices, so saved contacts and coins are the two things you would be giving up.

For a video chat, yes — the woman you are matched with is on camera and expects the same. If you would rather not be, Chatta also has voice matching and text matching.

Video is a two-way video call and asks for camera and microphone. Voice is audio only and asks for the microphone. Text is typing only and asks for no permissions. All three are private and one-on-one.

You can move to a video call when it suits you both. Start in whatever mode you are comfortable with.

Yes. Every conversation has two people in it and is never broadcast to a room. Moderation runs around the clock, and either side can end the chat with one tap.

Report and block sit next to the end button during a chat. Tap Report, say what happened in a sentence, and block to stop the same person reaching you again. More on the safety page.

Yes. Chatta is an 18+ service. Anyone under age is removed.

Your browser has remembered a "deny". Open the site settings for chatta.live in your browser (the icon next to the address bar), set Camera and Microphone to Allow, then reload the page.

Check your connection first — switching from mobile data to Wi-Fi, or the other way round, often fixes it. Close other tabs or apps using the camera, then reload. If it persists, try another browser.

iOS shows the permission prompt only when the call starts, and only once per site. If you tapped Don't Allow earlier, go to Settings > Safari (or Settings > Apps > Safari) > Camera and Microphone and set both to Ask or Allow, then reload chatta.live.
